Womenswear Wednesday: Grey isn’t always boring

I’ll be the first to admit, I struggle to find dresses for work. They are either too matronly for my taste or too provocative to be comfortable in. Therefore, when I find one I like and am comfortable in I keep it for way too long. This grey dress is definitely one of the latter. I bought this dress for $20 from Forever21 a few years ago and haven’t been able to find a similar one since, so I try to keep it as pristine as possible.

Why do I LOVE this otherwise basic grey dress? There’s a few reasons

  1. It fits amazingly, fitted around the waist and has slight flare from the waist (masking any bloating)
  2. The grey color is a perfect neutral for any season.
  3. It’s super simple to layer in the colder weather with a trench or cardigan, but also can be worn by itself as shown.
  4. Adding a pop of color with accessories is ridiculously simple!

Check out the cinching at the waist… creating an hourglass figure even if you don’t see one yourself.

Since we are in the middle of spring, I paired this look with brighter accessories and shoes.

A pale pink is a simple way to keep a look still work appropriate but have a little fun. You can find a similar pair here –LolaShoetique

I tried to find the same grey dress but had no such luck, however, I did find a cute one here that can do the same thing at ASOS 🙂
Lastly, I like to keep the handbag in the spring usually light (unless the theme calls for something different). This time I picked a simple white handbag like this one Forever21.

I am always on the lookout for more cute work dresses and I will be sure to share them with you as I find them! If you have any brands or stores you love for similar dresses leave them below in our comments 🙂

Stay Fashionable,

Sarah
