I’ll be the first to admit it. I was definitely maxi dress adverse for the first 26 years of my life. Why you may ask? Well, I thought (wrongly) that my 4’9″ frame would drown under the fabric and weight of the skirt. Also, I found it very tough to find a dress that didn’t require an extensive amount of shortening the length. The key I’ve found is to find one with adjustable straps and see if it can be altered (aka shortened).
So, this dress can be worn for a cute girls day or dressed up with heels even for a spring/summer date.
Also, I love that this maxi dress has a vneck (which is the most flattering of cuts) as it helps elongate the neck and slims out the body.
I would note that picking one that is similar to this with the empire waist (the waistline is right under the bust) can make you appear a little bit larger than you are normally from certain angles. On the flip side it is great to camouflage that area if you don’t like it.
Also, with this maxi I wore platforms rather than my normal sandal heels to give me a little bit more height.
